Teaching Strategies – Dirty little secrets every teacher should know

teaching strategiesMy dirty little secrets about teaching strategies are about to be made public. Sometimes, I find teaching bloody hard work. Like most teachers, there are times when I feel my days are made up of constant battles. It’s like living in Jersey Shores 24/7. You are just waiting for someone, somewhere, sometime to do something stupid - and you just hope it isn't YOU.

Reading your opinions on teaching was like reading my own thought about teaching. You’re right. It’s very tough to maintain the same level of energy throughout the day when you’re teaching. I deal with it every day and in nearly 10 years of teaching, it’s still a problem for me. You have the right idea and some very good tactics to get you over the hump though. I appreciate the tips and I’ll do my best to get myself charged up again for my students.

You bring up some excellent points here. It’s not only about working hard or doing more, but you have to do things more intelligently. Some of the way you preach on teaching children involve practice which provides them a new way of learning, but at the same time it gives us, the teachers a little breather and perhaps small window to get ourselves reenergized.

You are perfectly correct Luke. We all need a breather every day otherwise we suffer burn-out.
